Biography
Jared Manley was born in London, England in October 1976. It was at the age of twelve, whilst attending the Whitgift School in Croydon, that he developed his love for performance. Already a proficient pianist, Jared was asked to learn to play the bass guitar for the school danceband. This led to joining a variety of bands and performing styles of music from the 1930's to modern day pop at weddings, private parties and corporate functions.
After graduating from Nottingham University in 1999 with a Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering, Jared began his freelance career as a special effects technician in the film and television industry. It was during these first few months that Jared discovered his passion for close-up magic. A colleague at work showed him a card trick involving the 4 Aces, after which the fascination with sleight of hand and misdirection was too compelling. His interest in applied psychology started after the realisation that building a rapport with the audience, rather than the actual mechanics of an effect, was in some ways, the main contributer to a successful performance. It was also at this time when his best friend from university introduced him to NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) and basic hypnosis techiniques.
Jared's professional career in magic began during his travels in Australia, when he was hired to perform close-up magic for 500 people at the Melbourne Cup 2001. This led to further paid performances for major businesses and functions in Sydney and Melbourne. He also became a regular feature at restaurants in Manly Beach and at the Fox Studio Complex in Sydney. Jared's talents were also recognised in Canada (Vancouver and Toronto) where he again performed at weddings, restaurants and parties.
Now based back in the UK, Jared has built a substantial portfolio of clients, including a number of celebrities, and has performed at major conventions at the JW Marriot Hotel in Dubai, ICC in Birmingham, the London Olympia and the London ExCel Centre. TV work includes consultancy on the Channel 4 teen drama Totally Frank and appearance on BBC's Johnny and the Bomb
